Abstract:
Thermodynamically stable Winsor Type I (oil-in-water), Type II (water-in-oil), and Type
III (middle phase) phase behavior systems have been identified for perchloroethylene,
with a mixture of sodium sulfosuccinate surfactants in the presence of isopropyl alcohol
and appropriate electrolyte concentrations. The surfactant mixture is composed of 65%
sodium dihexyl sulfosuccinate (Aerosol MA) and 35% sodium dioctyl sulfosuccinate
(Aerosol OT) by weight. All experiments were done at 25 °C. The results presented
are the electrolyte concentrations and solubilization parameters for the optimum
formulations.
