Not a whole lot to say today. Powell did a great job as the starting pitcher. Smith and Lopez also did very well in relief. All-in-all, the pitching looked much better by the end of this 5-game weekend for the Horns than it's looked all season. The offense also did quite well. I'm sure the team will feel much better going into the First Pitch Tournament in Houston this week than if they'd had to go after last weekend's series against Cal State Fullerton.
Highlights for today's game. Byers made a couple of great catches in right field. In the 3rd, Harkrider bunted safely to load the bases. Campbell then hit out to 1b. Quinn walked Byers (giving him an easy rbi). Peoples then hit a single to lf that Maine's Turner booted toward cf. The bases cleared on the error...1 unearned run. Loeffler had another hard hit ball to lf that ended up being a ground-rule double with two outs in the 6th to drive in a run. He's looking more comfortable with each game.
