Six pitchers again today. Thankfully, it was the Sooners who went throgh all those pitchers and not the Horns! O'Dell and French combined for the first win of the weekend series against OU. They had strong defense and offense behind them to help with the win. Things are definitely looking up.
The game was very even until the Horns broke it open in the 6th after stranding 3 in the 5th. Pennington started things off by hitting Loeffler and walking Edelstein. Fisher came in and Harkrider bunted safely to load the bases. Campbell then grounded out to 1st to get the first out (Loeffler scored on the play). Byers walked and Peoples hit an rbi single. OU brought lefty Wilmot in to face Layne to no avail. Layne hit a 2-rbi single. So, OU brought Leppard in. Escamilla hit a sacrifice fly to right to score Peoples. The inning finally came to an end as Salinas went down swinging. Then, in the 7th, Loeffler grounded out to ss and Edelstein reached on an error. Harkrider singled and Campbell cleared the bases with a triple.
All-in-all, it was an great offensive showing by the Horns.
