Comments

Yet another terrific day for baseball...the temperature hovered around 80 with an occasional light breeze to left. Senterfitt seemed to have some control problems...he had to pitch his way out of trouble in four separate innings with runners in scoring position. We also had a bit of controversy in the late innings of the game:
  1. In the bottom of the 8th, Nuckols hit the fourth and fifth batters (Byers and Webb). Campbell reached on a fielder's choice and then Nuckols nearly hit Harkrider...prompting plate umpire Diehl to take a walk to the mound and issue a warning to Nuckols.
  2. In the top of the 9th, Ashcraft was batting and Webb couldn't control a pitch from Kjos. As Webb tried to get to the ball which had skipped toward first (past the left-handed batter), Ashcraft swung his bat lazily toward the back of Webb's helmet. 'Not sure if it was batter's interference (is he obligated to move out of the catcher's way or not?) but I do know he shouldn't swing his bat at the catcher. Needless to say, Webb wasn't pleased...and neither was the home crowd. The baserunner (Snead) made it to second but was stranded there.
