Comments

The temperature hovered around 50 deg F the entire game but there was virtually no wind so the playing conditions were much more comfortable than Friday's game. CSF went on a hitting frenzy (3 HR's in the 5th inning alone) reminiscent of last Sunday's game in California. Mark Kotsay (cf) hit two in-the-park homers. The first one (3 rbi) was to left that Edelstein dove for and missed...it skipped into the corner and by the time Edelstein caught up with it, it was just too late. Kotsay's second (solo) was to left center and Taylor dove for and missed...he slid on the wet warning track nearly 20 feet as the ball went in the other direction. Campbell had difficulty with the relay but I don't think he would've been in time to catch Kotsay anyway. Texas pitchers didn't help their cause as they walked 10 CSF batters. Edelstein increased his hitting streak to 19 games. Coach Gus tinkered with the batting order a bit and moved Taylor back up but he ended up going 0-3 with a walk. Kiemsteadt had the dubious honor of making the third out all four times he came up to bat...I wonder how often that happens.

Aside: Comparing my boxscore to the one that appeared in the Austin American-Statesman gives me little faith in what they regularly report. Among the errors: the paper had Dixon listed as pitching a complete game for CSF, they listed the UT error but didn't say who it was charged to, and they reported additional AB's to several batters.
