PGE 379
Structural Geology for Engineers
MWF 2-3, CPE 2.206
Professor Jon Olson
Department of Petroleum and Geosystems Engineering
This course is a treatment of structural geology with an emphasis on aspects of importance to petroleum engineering (and to a lessor extent other engineering disciplines). We will cover basic rock deformation processes, the geometry and mechanics of geologic structures, rock fracture, introductory seismic interpretation, in situ stress relationships and aspects of GPS applied to petroleum engineering and geologic mapping.
This course is part of the undergraduate curriculum, but graduate students who need to improve on their geologic background are encouraged to sign up!
